Ogun to introduce website for land matters

The Ogun State Government says it has concluded plans to prepare and issue 1,500 Certificates of Occupancy in one month under the Homeowners’ Charter and that a website that will provide comprehensive information and procedures on land matters will soon be introduced.

The website will also have information on industrial, agricultural and residential locations and acquisitions as well as title document processing.

According to the Director-General, Bureau of Lands and Survey, Mr. Adewale Oshinowo, under the scheme, owners of eligible properties built without the required approvals or those illegally built on government acquired but not committed land will be given a window of opportunity to obtain building plan approval, C-of-Os and other title documents.

He said all penalties and fines would be waived and the documentation requirements relaxed with discounted fees to enable as many residents as possible to benefit from the initiative.

“The bureau will be issuing 1,500 Certificates of Occupancy monthly in order to fast-track the process of giving it to the homeowners who obtained the form, as the bureau has started collating data and inspection is ongoing for those who applied for the regularisation of their documents,” he said.

Oshinowo added that the website would be inaugurated in April, adding that the state’s Geographic Information System and Land Management System project would on completion, improve and transform the socio-economic development of the state.
