Bankers’ Committee targets pupils


The Bankers’ Committee has announced activities targeted at primary and secondary school pupils to mark the 2014 edition of the Global Money Week.

The programme, released in a statement through its Financial Literacy and Public Enlightenment Sub-committee, is schedule for Monday March 10 to Monday March 17.

It said the Global Money Week was being marked in recognition of the role of financial literacy in the economy and in furtherance of its 2014 priorities

The statement added that Thursday, March 13 had been designated the ‘Financial Literacy Day’, by the committee.

“The aim of both the Global Money Week and Financial Literacy Day is to inculcate sound financial knowledge and fiscal planning skills in children and the youth,” it said.

The Bankers’ Committee gave other activities to mark the week to include visits by officials of the various financial institutions to schools adopted by the respective banks.
