KSA, D’banj unite for Glo

The Intercontinental Hotel, Lagos, was filled to the brim last Friday when Globacom staged the second of its evergreen series.

The edition featured the juju icon, King Sunny Ade, and it was a night of great and evergreen music.

Gbenga Adeyinka, the Master of Ceremony, was at his best and he made sure everything went on systematically while cracking his jokes.

But the moment KSA mounted the stage, it was fun all the way. His age didn’t deter him; KSA still showed his dexterity on the dance floor as he and his band members thrilled the guests who were just in awe.

The juju guru commenced the show with “Eku Ikale” to welcome the guests before he went on with more popular songs. KSA swiftly switched the tempo to a more upbeat tune and guests had no choice but to get up and dance.

He cruised smoothly into his next song, “Great to serve the Lord,” with himself and the rest of his ensemble giving a salute, before moving on to “I have a very big God.”

Alade ma Gbo’ and ‘Call me, that’s my number,’ were some of the other hits delivered by the legend. The audience were transported through a musical time machine as Sunny Ade induced waves of nostalgic feelings through his classic and evergreen songs of the 70s and 80s.

After an earth-shaking first leg performance, KSA left the stage for Yemi Sax, who is a master of the sax. He amply serenaded guests with classic tunes as he blew away on his golden saxophone.

Yemi didn’t allow KSA’s tempo to drop. He took the guests to another height of fun, playing classical music that guests savoured and relished.

But the fun wasn’t over yet. The Koko Master, D’banj, aka Banga Lee, came on the stage and the guests went on fire. D’banj showed the reason he is called, The Entertainer.

Dishing out hit after hit, D’banj made sure there was no boring moment. But the guests went crazy when KSA joined D’banj on stage and gave a mind blowing performance of his ‘Mobolowo won.’ It was incredible; no wonder they were given a standing ovation at the end of the song.

KSA came back on stage for a more wonderful performance which even made people ask for more and more even after he was done for the night.

The legend thanked Globacom for the great honour done him by featuring him on the Glo Evergreen Series platform.

He commended the Chairman of Globacom, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr. for the recognition and honour given to him.
