As Jonathan’s jet refuses to fly

President Goodluck Jonathan and some top government officials on Saturday escaped an air mishap at the Minna Airport, Niger State, when a presidential jet developed a technical fault, while they were aboard.

Comments:

Oluwatoba: Imagine this wastage. The president, vice president, and senate president each flew in different “presidential” jets to the same venue probably from Abuja. Three planes, from same destination, and were all going to Minna.  Shameful and wasteful!

Kwafa Joseph: In a country where 90 per cent of its people are leaving below one dollar a day, the leaders are busy buying over 10 planes and flying three at a go. Even the leaders of the developed countries never do that.

May God almighty who sees value in the life of common Nigerians deliver us from the hand of Jonathan and his PDP folks.

Afam: The proceedings of the national conference should recommend the abolishment of flying any of the jets on the Presidential fleet for short distance travel by public office holders.

They should be made to travel by road or train.

That would help them feel the life the Nigerians live and also enable them feel the Nigerian environment that their activities in office have shaped for bad.

Ola Victor: We shouldn’t be surprised if they come up with a request for another presidential jet to replace this one.

See how they are disguising party campaigns as visitation while other parties are restricted by police.

Attack on Enugu Govt House

Security personnel foiled an attempt by about 50 armed men to forcefully gain entry  into the Enugu State Government House in the early hours of Saturday.

Comments:

Boliatepa: Nigeria is like a corrupt hard drive. When hard drives get corrupted, you reformat, wipe clean and reinstall. The national conference is the last hope to reformat, wipe and do a fresh start.

Without a refresh, this kind of jungle event will become prevalent until an irredeemable crash.

Tom: We live in desperate times where desperate measures need to be taken, it is high time everyone took security of lives and their property seriously. If a Government House can be attacked by armed men, then  I am sure nowhere else can’t be attacked in Nigeria.

Prince T: Each day passing, the security of lives and property of the citizenry is continuously being threatened. If President Goodluck Jonathan cannot handle the situation, he should resign.

These guys must be audacious to be able to attack a government house. Nowhere is safe in Nigeria. We have Boko Haram, Niger Delta militants, kidnappers and so many armed groups on the prowl.

Is Nigeria winning the anti-terror war?

The Federal Government has shut down five Federal Government Colleges in Yobe, Borno and Adamawa states, following the killings of school children by members of the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, who have been attacking schools.

Comments:

Duniya: One might be tempted to say the war is being won by the Boko Haram guys by inhibiting Western education. I think it is government’s responsibility to protect lives and this decision is not out of place.

Pope: The lives of the pupils are worth more than any degree or education. The FG should also evacuate the North eastern region.  I don’t know what human beings are still doing in those terrorists infested enclaves. The FG should evacuate the civilians and bomb the hideouts of the terrorists
